The Health & Wellness Ministry at Calvary Gospel is church-wide ministry and is open to everyone.  As we look at the construct of today’s family we know the demographics vary greatly.  Therefore, all family members can benefit by hearing, observing and putting into practice what is given to prosper us.

The vision of the Health & Wellness Ministry is put forth under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and that of the pastoral leadership of Calvary Gospel Church.  Our body is the temple of the living God, a holy vessel unto Him.

We are therefore stewards and strive to preserve and honor the health of our body. Our hope is to inspire, edify and achieve optimal health and wellness continuously.

The goals of the Health & Wellness Ministry at Calvary Gospel Church is to set our focus on the healing that wellness brings, to advocate for needed services within the church body and greater, neighboring community. As well as, to achieve optimal health through increasing health awareness, healthy nutrition and choosing to hold onto God’s promise of abundant life.

It is also to empower participants to take responsibility for the care and well-being of their temple so that our witness will be entire and complete.
Mildred M. Stokes is our assigned director of Health & Wellness Ministry here at Calvary Gospel Church.  Her passion is to encourage optimal health and wellness in the body of Christ, and dynamic dedication through our collective program participation and outreach to community. Ms. Stokes is deeply committed to wealth of health holistic achievement and is actively expanding her knowledge in wellness studies, functional aging and fitness nutrition.
She continues a teaching career as College of Southern Maryland adjunct faculty, instructing international students towards becoming productive community members. Mother of three adult children and grandmother of two college age grandsons, Ms. Stokes is also author of the book, Romancing the Beautiful Divine, A Joy Embrace Story Devotional and anticipates her next title on the subject of nutritional healing and sustained health.
